Pause Awards Terms & Conditions


  1. Pause Awards is presented by Pause Festival Australia Pty Ltd (ACN: 622 294 946) (“Pause Fest”). By completing and submitting the online entry form contained at https://www.pausefest.com.au/awards and paying the Entry Fees, the applicant acknowledges receipt of and agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
  2. The individual submitting the entry on behalf of the entrant acknowledges and agrees that they hold the necessary authority to bind the entrant to these Terms and Conditions and agrees that an express agency relationship exists between the individual and the entrant.
  3. Once you have created an account, you agree to receive any and all promotional material from Pause Fest and any partners or sponsors of Pause Fest in accordance with Pause Fest’s Privacy Policy contained at https://www.pausefest.com.au/images/ Documents/PAUSE-Privacy-Policy-final.pdf . You may unsubscribe from these at any
  4. time by clicking the “unsubscribe” button contained in relevant correspondence.

Eligibility

4. Entry to Pause Awards is open to Australian and New Zealand residents who are over the age of 14 years and businesses and companies registered either in Australia or New Zealand.

5. Certain Prize Categories have certain eligibility criteria which must be met separately to those contained in clause 4.

Entry Requirements

6. All entries must be submitted on behalf of an individual or a company using the online awards entry form located at awards.pause.com.au. All written work must be submitted in English.

  1. The following information will be required from every applicant: (a) Personal details of entrant;
  2. (b) Company and business details;
  3. (c) Background of the business and story to date;
  4. (d) Business results between 1 June 2019 and 31 May 2020.
  5. An entrant may enter as many categories as they are eligible to enter, however the
  6. same application cannot be used in subsequent Pause Awards.

Competition Dates

9. Entry to the competition will commence on 29 July 2020 and close: (a) for Early-bird Entrants at 11:59 pm on 28 August 2020;

(b) for Regular Entrants at 11:59 pm on 23 October 2020; and (c) for Late-bird Entrants at 11:59 pm on 30 October 2020.

10. All entries must be received before 11:59 pm Australian Daylight Savings Time on 30 October 2020 to be considered.

11. Short-listed entrants will be announced by 2:00 pm on 25 November 2020 and contacted by email.

12. Winners will be announced on pausefest.com.au.

13.The awards party is scheduled to occur in December 2020 on a date to be

determined in a location to be confirmed depending upon the impacts of COVID-19 on travel and events as at that date.

Entry Fees

14. The entry fees are dependent on date of entry, as set out on the Pause Awards website. Any entrant deemed to have acted dishonestly when registering their entry will be contacted and may result in disqualification. Upon registration, entrants should ensure they enter the correct information.

15. Payment must be made through the online payment system on the Pause Awards website. Entrants will receive confirmation that their entry or entries have been

successfully received via email once payment has been made. No other payment method will be accepted except at the discretion of Pause Fest.

Prize Categories

16. Hammer Award – For nailing it

(a) This award recognises a company’s success on their own terms in their relevant market.

(b) This award will be open to entries from Companies.

(c) There will be three winners selected for this award category. 17. Out of the Garage Award – For scaling globally

(a) This award recognises a company’s global growth, expansion and success. (b) This award will be open to entries from Companies.

(c) There will be three winners selected for this award category.

18. Super Connector Award – For being the community champ

(a) This award recognises a person for their significant contribution to the

success of their clients or the community.

(b) This award will be open to entries from individuals.

(c) There will be five winners selected for this award category.

19. Prodigy Award – For being exceptional

(a) This award recognises a person under the age of 35 with exceptional

qualities or abilities.

(b) This award will be open to entries from individuals who are under the age of

35.

(c) There will be three winners selected for this award category.

20. Unexpected Twist Award – For a great pivot

(a) This award recognises a person or company that has taken an unexpected

pivot in their business or career.

(b) This award will be open to entries from individuals and companies. (c) There will be one winner selected for this award category.

21. I Wish I'd Done That Award – For sheer brilliance

(a) This award recognises a company’s simple and clever idea in a niche market. (b) This award will be open to entries from Companies.

(c) There will be three winners selected for this award category.

22. Do You Know Who I Am Award – For the silent achiever

(a) This award recognises a person that has been responsible for the success of

their company from the backstage.

(b) This award will be open to entries from individuals.

(c) There will be five winners selected for this award category.

23. Big Noise Award – For media cut through

(a) This award recognises a company that has delivered clever marketing tactics. (b) This award will be open to entries from Companies.

(c) There will be three winners selected for this award category.

24. B-Good Award – For a good business

(a) This award recognises a company that has done well for the community and

the world through their commercial practice.

(b) This award will be open to entries from Companies.

(c) There will be three winners selected for this award category.

25. Roowi Award – For new and First Peoples

(a) This award recognises a successful company with its founders from

indigenous or ethnic heritage that has gained success in the market. (b) This award will be open to entries from Companies.

(c) There will be five winners selected for this award category.

26. Baton Award – For the life-long mentor

(a) This award recognises an experienced and trusted advisor who elevated

someone's career.

(b) This award will be open to entries from Companies.

(c) There will be one winner selected for this award category. 27. Fresh Blood Award – For students with brilliant ideas

  1. (a) This award recognises crazy new commercial ideas that aim to solve the world's most challenging problems.
  2. (b) This award will be open to entries from individuals who are students at an Australian or New Zealand high school in the years of 9-12 or studying at an Australian or New Zealand university and under the age of 25.
  3. 1. Evidence of enrolment will be required and the Pause Fest reserves the right to confirm an entrant’s enrolment.

(c) There will be five winners selected for this award category.

28. The competition will be conducted during the competition period from 12:00 am on

Prize

29. The Prize will consist of: (a) Trophy;

(b) Public recognition by the Pause Fest as a winner of Pause Awards;

(c) Three digital tickets enabling access to all Pause Fest 2021 events. 30. Additionally, Prize Winners may be invited to:

(a) speak at Pause Fest 2021; or (b) provide media interviews.

Judges

31. Pause Fest will appoint 18 judges from Australia, New Zealand and the United States to judge each category. These judges will be split into two groups, the first 13 judges will decide upon the short-listed entrants with the remaining five judges to select the winners from the short-listed entrants.

  1. Names, biographies, and portraits of judges will be made public on the awards website.
  2. Pause Fest will organise, select and manage the judges, which will be instructed to act without bias or favour. If a judge faces a potential conflict of interest, they will be assigned to a different category. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their decisions or decision-making processes.

Judging Process

34. Judging will take place in three distinct stages.

  1. The first stage will be completed by Pause Fest staff to confirm eligibility of each
  2. entrant for each category, noting that certain Prize Categories have certain eligibility criteria which must be met (for example, an company cannot be selected for an individual award).
  3. The second short-listing stage will be completed by a panel of 13 judges, who will assess each entry against a pre-determined and consistent criteria for the relevant prize category and assign a score between 1 and 10 to each entrant. This scoring will identify suggested award winners.
  4. The third stage for finalists will be completed by a panel of 5 judges who will assess the short-listed entrants against the scoring in the short-listing stage and ratify, amend or confirm the scoring.

Marketing Rights

38. By submitting an entry to Pause Awards, the entrant grants Pause Fest the right to promote its association with the entrant.

Revocation of the Pause Award

39. Pause Fest may, in its sole discretion and without reference to a Prize Winner, revoke any Pause Award which has been awarded if Pause Fest believes that the conduct, business practices, or association with the Prize Winner has become detrimental to Pause Fest.

40. Pause may choose to issue any release, press release, statement or otherwise engage in the public domain in respect of any Prize Winner without reference to that Prize Winner if in the sole discretion of Pause Fest, to not do so would cause irreparable harm to the Pause Fest brand.

Intellectual Property Rights

41. By submitting an entry to Pause Awards, the entrant grants Pause Fest a royalty- free, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive and fully sub-licensable licence to use, reproduce, publish, distribute, perform, or display the entrant’s image, logo, trademarks, and marketing material for any purpose, in whole or in part, in any form, including for the promotion of Pause Awards, Pause Fest, and to allow third parties to publish this content where they do so in association with Pause Fest.

Limitation of Liability

42. Pause Fest reserves the right to cancel or amend Pause Awards and these terms and conditions at any time.

  1. Pause Fest will not be liable to applicants for any consequential losses (i.e. loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of goodwill, loss or damage to data or information) arising out of, or in connection with, the provision of the service of publishing your entry on the Pause Awards website.
  2. Pause Fest may assert its rights or obligations under these terms at any time. You may not assert your rights or obligations under these terms without Pause Fest’s prior written consent. Pause Fest will not be liable for failure to meet its obligations under these terms if it is prevented from doing so due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

45.The Pause Fest accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence whether due to error, omission, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction, transmission interruption, communications failure or otherwise. The Pause Fest has no control over communications networks or services, the internet, or computer or telephone networks or lines and accepts no responsibility for any problems associated with them. The Pause Fest is not liable for any consequences of user error including (without limitation) costs incurred. Any form of automated entry using any device software is invalid.
